All our leathers are tanned in Portugal — where shoemaking is a true calling — using an eco-friendly process free of chrome salts and heavy metals. The vast majority of our leather is vegetable-tanned, meaning with bark and leaves rather than chemicals. This organic leather is more environmentally friendly, healthier and more durable: it generally lasts longer. We work with a tannery that innovates every year to reduce its water and energy use. And because we decided to do things properly all the way through, all our leathers come from European cattle farms, mainly German and Spanish. Material sourcing, transport, tanning process: these are all levers our ecological men's shoes act on to reduce their footprint.
