WHY WAX YOUR LEATHER BOOTS?

Beyond maintaining the quality of the material, polishing your shoes is essential to ensure an elegant look with the most beautiful effect!

WHAT CARE PRODUCTS TO USE TO SHINE LEATHER SHOES?

Whether in smooth, greasy, patent or suede leather, your leather shoes are not maintained in the same way and must use products adapted to their material and color.

Smooth and greasy leathers

For smooth leathers, you can turn to a shoe polish a little darker than the color of the leather. A lighter shoe polish does not hide the imperfections of the leather, on the contrary, it brings them out more. To care for the Smooth Leather Treads, equip the following:

• A scraper brush
• A horsehair brush
• A cleansing milk
• A nourishing cream
• A chamois cloth
• A jar of shoe polish
• A waterproofing

Suede leathers

suede, suede and nubuck leather are extremely fragile. Shoe polish should not be applied to this type of material. A specific interview is dedicated to them. Therefore, it is necessary to waterproof them regularly because suede leather stains easily and absorbs more liquids unlike full grain leather. To care for suede leather, you will need:

• A suede brush or eraser for cleaning
• A color renovating spray
• A waterproofing agent

Patent leather

To preserve the shine of patent leather as for suede leather, waxing is to be avoided. To make your patent leather ankle boots, get ready:

• A cloth
• White vinegar

THE STEPS TO FOLLOW TO CARE FOR LEATHER BOOTS

Preparation

If yours leather ankle boots are lace-up , be sure to remove them first to avoid getting them dirty. If you have shoe trees, do not hesitate to use them. They allow to obtain a uniform result on the whole shoe even in the folds.

Dusting

Take a scraper brush and scrub vigorously to remove all the dirt.

Cleaning

Apply a dab of cleansing milk and massage into the leather. Do not hesitate to make several passes. Let stand between 10 and 15 minutes for the product to act sufficiently. The cleaning milk is used to prepare the shoe polish, remove stains and prevent the leather from aging badly (cracking, clogging).
For suede leather, use a suede brush (not a chamois).
For patent leather, rub gently with a cloth soaked in white vinegar.

Hydration

Just like cleaning, use a chamoisine to apply the moisturizer to all of the boots.

Wax

The polish will come to protect the hydration brought to the leather, it will also allow to bring out the patina. You can apply it using a horsehair brush. Contrary to popular belief, shoe polish does not penetrate the leather, it remains on the surface.
For suede leather, you can apply a color renovator spray.
For patent leathers, spray a silicone-based spray to protect.

Protect

It is quite possible to combine the protection of shoe polish with the application of a waterproofing agent in case of bad weather. Thanks to it, the stains will not have time to soak into the leather and will be easier to remove. Spray from a distance of 30 cm from your leather boots and leave to dry for 30 minutes. Repeat the operation a second time.
